A photo dump is a batch of loosely related, mostly unedited photos posted together as one carousel. What photo dump means
The word comes from what it describes. You dump a chunk of your camera roll into one post instead of picking a single perfect image. Three things define it:

- A loose theme. "August", "the trip", "this weekend". Enough to connect the photos, not enough to require an order.
- Deliberate imperfection. Little editing, no heavy retouching, and at least one bad photo on purpose. That is the part that reads as authentic.

- Second chances in the feed. If someone scrolls past your carousel, Instagram can show it again from a different starting slide.

How to make a photo dump
- Pick a window, not a topic. Filter your camera roll to one month, one trip, one weekend. Themes come out of the photos, not before them.
- Cut to 10 to 15. One photo per moment. Three near-identical shots of the same sunset are what lose people halfway through.
- Mix the distances. Faces, details, wide shots, one text or screenshot slide. Variety is what keeps people swiping, not quality.
- Front-load and end well. Slide one is the cover. It is the frame the feed opens on and the one that sits on your profile grid, so it has to stop a scroll. The last slide is what people remember, so make it quiet or funny rather than random.
- Keep one aspect ratio. The first slide sets the shape of the post. Mixed orientations either get cropped or padded with borders, so export everything at 1080×1350 (4:5) and nothing gets chopped.
