- Short beats clever. Under eight words. Anything longer competes with the photos instead of framing them.

What people stop for is the first slide. What should I caption a photo dump?
Something short and low-effort, because that is the point of the format. A few lowercase words, a date, a short list or a string of emoji. Long, polished captions fight the casual tone of the photos.
Do photo dump captions need hashtags?
A few relevant ones help discovery, but keep them out of the caption body. Three to five at the end or in the first comment is enough. Thirty hashtags on a personal dump reads as spam.
Should I use emoji instead of words?
